JAG Arabian Sport Horses

Educational Meet + Greet for Non-Profits

JAG Arabian Sport Horses is in the process of becoming an Arabian Horse Association Discovery Farm. In order to to give back to the community and share our love for horses, we would like to offer on a limited basis a brief and basic educational seminar and meet and greet with our incredible horses. These sessions are meant to be relaxing, but educational introduction to horses lasting about an hour. Depending on the age group, we would like to focus on horse safety, basic horse care and management, basic horse knowledge, handling and grooming techniques, very brief overview of different riding disciplines & breeds, and, of course, a little bit about the characteristics and history of the Arabian Horse. There will be no handling of the horses, but opportunities to safely pet and love on our sweet horses.

Although we are passionate and knowledgeable amateur owners and riders with a lifetime of experience with horses, this is not meant to be in place of professional instruction.

Frequently Asked Questions:

- What's your availability?
Weekends, mostly Sundays, are the best time for our introduction to horses sessions. We are working adults not in the horse industry. We recommend scheduling 2-3 months in advance due to our horse show, travel, and normal family life schedule. We can only offer 4-5 sessions max per year at this time.

- Why are you offering this?
Horses and the Arabian breed are a life passion of ours. We know many people never get a chance to meet or learn about horses and more specifically, Arabian horses, and we hope this is a great way to do both and this gives us the opportunity to give back to the general, non-equestrian community.

- How long do these educational meet+greets last?
Depending on the age of attendees, typically 45 minutes to an hour.  Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts please contact us directly for your badge needs as we know these educational sessions have specific needs and requirements.

- Who is the offered to? What size group do you recommend this for? Can you do one-on-one or semi-private sessions with 1-3 people?
With our limited offerings of these educational meet+greets due to our schedule, we would prefer to cater these opportunities to Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Youth groups, church groups, FFA, 4H, equestrian club, or homeschool groups, etc. This is an educational opportunity for official non-profits only. We highly recommend hiring a professional for more specialized one-on-one private or semi-private horsemanship lessons.
For space, safety and quality of the meet+greet, we recommend no less than 5 and no more than 12 people (up to 15 people if car pooling).  For younger students, we recommend staying on the lower end. Please keep in mind we are a family run facility and safety is our top priority. Also, with limited parking at our private farm, we recommend car pooling.

- What age will benefit the most from this educational meet+greet?
We recommend 8 and above for safety reasons and to benefit the most from the information presented.

- What if my child is under 8?
For ages 7 and under we recommend one-on-one coaching with a professional OR attending local equine fairs and horse shows to gauge or spark the child's interest in horses. We would love to have every horse crazy child to visit, but due to our limited schedule we will not be able to accommodate every individual that wants to visit; however, we can recommend professionals and events in the local area. Every year the Region 12 Arabian Horse Association offers the TAIL Program in Perry, GA in May. The Region 12 website is www.aharegion12.com
For more information on the TAIL program go to: https://www.arabianhorses.org/additional/involved/activities/tail/ You can email Region 12 Director Lisa Blackstone at: Lisa@lisaBlackstone.com

We also recommend following the Georgia Arabian Horse Association (GAHA) for their events. GAHA's website is www.georgia-arabian.com

- What will the educational meet+greet include?
Depending on the age group, we would like to focus on horse safety, basic horse care and management, basic horse knowledge and anatomy, handling and grooming techniques, brief overview of different riding disciplines & breeds, and, of course, a little bit about the history of the Arabian Horse. For Girl Scout or Boy Scout badges, please let us know your exact needs are as far as curriculum. There will be no handling of the horses, but opportunities to safely pet and love on our sweet horses. If your group is a 4H, FFA or equestrian club we can cater our session to learn more about Arabians and their history, as they may already have a basic (or strong) understanding and knowledge of horses.

Are photos permitted?
Yes! We love cute photos just as much as you do. Please just be careful with the flash and our horses' sensitive eyes. Your safety and our horses' safety is our top priority so please watch your step and do not put yourself in a precarious situation just to get that "perfect photo." In return, we would also love to get a few cute or sweet photos of our horses with your group participants to share on our social media and website so we will have attendees sign a photo release form.
